| i feel like im going on an asian rampage over here... but oh well
i realize how much i dont understand asian families. i hate how everyone generalizes ! "asian families do this.." "asian people dont do this.." "its because we're asian.." NO ! thats not how it works ! well, i guess this post kind of applies to any family, but whatever, you get the message (well, you will soon enough, or maybe you wont because i tend to ramble aimlessly).
what annoys me alot is how much parents stress respect and about how you have to say your "thank you's" and to always be polite and grateful, but at the same time, some parents dont practice what they preach! sometimes their children do things for them and there isnt even so much as an exchange of thank you or any show of appreciation. ok.. i understand its sort of a child's duty to care for their parents and to grow up and support them, but cmon.. its not like theyre born to serve like slaves. im not saying "damn, i need recognition for what i do," but itd be nice if every now and then there was some sort of acknowledgment you know? how would you feel if you tried to do something nice for someone time and time again and each time, instead of even thanking you, they say something along the lines of "thats something you should be doing" (not for me, but for everyone who does things to help their parents/people around them live more comfortably/happily). i guess i just like to give people credit for the things they do because i think thats the least they deserve and if the least i can do is show them some appreciation, then so be it.
